About the Event
We have recently reviewed the curriculum at The Forest High School; part of this review focused on the time available for the delivery of the new style GCSE Examinations. Following much discussion we have decided that we will move to a three year Key Stage 4.
This means that students will commence studies towards GCSE in Year 9 and that they will make GCSE option choices at the end of Year 8. The decision to move to a three year Key Stage 4 programme is not something that we have taken lightly.
We have consulted widely with a number of schools who have already made the transition to this model; feedback from them and their students is very positive. Those schools report that student progress and engagement has improved, and their staff feel that this change has allowed them more time to cover the GCSE syllabus content, preparing students for exams and controlled assessments more rigorously. We invite you to attend the ‘Options Evening’ on Tuesday 27 March between 5pm – 6pm where we will explain fully why we are moving to a three year Key Stage 4 and a chance for you to discuss the option choices available to your child.
